In the Wrong

Detached intimacy
Someone to hold you and keep you warm
So you could somehow feel less cold

Someone who could kiss you so passionately
Without letting words like “relationship” or “marriage”
Roll off of their tongues

The desires to have someone care for you so tenderly
That the simplest “hello” sounded like “welcome home”
Without expecting anything of you

You wanted someone to crave your very existence
But not question you when you were gone

You were asking someone to love you without loving you

And we wonder why this generation is so lonely
