The Calm Before the Storm

                            

Forcefully filling empty conversations with temporary people
that's what I was doing

I tried to think back to the last time 
I didn't have to force any interaction 
and you were the first person that came to mind

Remember that time 
we stood there as the lights of the bridge glistened 
and the waves crashed ashore 
We just stood there 

You knew how hectic my life was 
and how the ground I was walking on 
felt like it was crumbling at my feet every step I took

Nothing was said but it was a silence I was content with
You were there with me and I was there with you. 
For those five hours, that was all that mattered to me. 
That's when I realized -
in life you don't always need someone to say the right things
Conversation is not always necessary
Sometimes you just need someone you can bask in silence with...
